Personal Injury Psychological Evaluations in Texas

Psych Assessments provides psychological evaluations and reports for personal injury clients in Texas by telehealth. Elazar Tehrani, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in Texas, as well as California (license PSY28780) and Colorado. Services are limited to evaluation and reporting; we do not provide ongoing treatment.

Texas Licensure and Telehealth

Dr. Tehrani holds a Texas psychology license, and evaluations for clients located in Texas are conducted by secure video telehealth. Telehealth allows your client to participate from home or from your office, without travel to California. Before each session we confirm the client's location, identity and a private setting, and we discuss any technology needs in advance.

Letters of Protection and Lien-Basis Evaluations

In Texas personal injury practice, providers commonly agree to treat or evaluate a client under a letter of protection (LOP), which defers payment until the claim resolves. We are familiar with this approach. Our evaluations are billed on a lien basis, and we can work with your office on documentation of the arrangement. Billing terms are confirmed with the referring office before scheduling. Payment arrangements do not influence clinical findings.

Texas law and practice around letters of protection and the evidence of medical expenses continue to develop. Attorneys should rely on their own legal judgment about how a particular arrangement applies to their case.

Types of Cases We Evaluate

  • Product liability
  • Medical malpractice
  • Other incidents involving injury or significant psychological stress

What an Evaluation Includes

Each evaluation is shaped by the questions your office needs answered. It generally includes:

  • A clinical interview covering history, the incident and current symptoms
  • Review of available records
  • Standardized psychological testing where appropriate
  • Assessment of symptoms such as post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, panic and phobias
  • Consideration of pre-existing conditions and other stressors
  • A written report describing findings and clinical impressions

Pre-Implant Psychological Evaluations

We also provide pre-implant psychological evaluations for spinal cord stimulators and other medical devices for Texas clients, on the same lien basis and by telehealth. See our page on spinal cord stimulator evaluations for details.

Free Pre-Screening

We offer a no-charge pre-screening of each client before scheduling, to confirm that a psychological evaluation is appropriate and to answer questions from your office.

Minors and Spanish-Speaking Clients

We welcome minors, with a parent or guardian participating as appropriate, and Spanish-speaking clients. Se habla español. Texas has a large Spanish-speaking population, and we are glad to evaluate clients in their preferred language.

Does the report predict case results?
